About the Prayer Shawls and Pocket Prayer Cloths…

Our ministry weaves in God’s love, care and warmth into each shawl for those who need them. The knitter or crocheter begins each prayer shawl/cloth with a prayer for the recipient whether we know them or not. A finished prayer shawl is then wrapped with yarn and a card with the prayer of blessing of a completed shawl is attached; a small prayer of love also seals the pocket prayer cloths in a small bag.

Blessed...
Our handiwork is blessed by our Pastor or Deacon at mass, the prayer shawl / cloth is then given away to do its work.

Uses: Spiritual comfort, Illness, Surgery, Depression, Bereavement

OR -    A joy-filled event like the birth of a child, a birthday, anniversary, wedding or becoming a mother or grandmother.

How we share them....

Giving our handiwork away is an act of kindness…. reaching out to someone in need of comfort, grieving a loss or in need of spiritual, emotional or physical healing. Receiving a prayer shawl/cloth is a blessing as well.  We encourage anyone (yourself or others) to take a prayer shawl or cloth to share it with anyone in need of spiritual comfort or support. Two prayer shawl bins are located at SEAS entrances. We do ask that you fill out the log on the bins for the prayer shawls. Additionally, two baskets containing Pocket Prayer Cloths are located on the entrance tables; these Pocket Prayer Cloths are small enough to keep in a purse, pocket, helmet/hat, lunch box, etc.

Recipients…

Prayer Shawl recipients are as follows:

Parishioners, friends, family; SEAS Elizabeth Ministry; SEAS Stephen Ministry; VA Hospital, Cheyenne, WY;

RCIA Candidates; Crossroads Outreach Center; Rachel's Vineyard, Denver; Fort Collins Nursing Homes; Catholic Charities.

Pass it on....

Some recipients have continued the kindness of receiving a prayer shawl by making a donation (monetary or yarn) which ripples from person to person with  both giver and receiver feeling an unconditional embrace from a comforting God.

We Invite You to Join Us....
